VENTANA

VENTANA

For more than 2 decades SWATHs (Small Waterplane Area Twin Hulls) have been used as working boats in rough envirnoments, for example as pilot transfer ships. The advantages are clear: Because the main displacement of this twin hull vessels is located beneath the waterline, waves have only a small area in which they could lift the vessel and therefore a SWATH offers a perfectly calm platform.

Focus‘ new VENTANA concept is a 60 m SWATH yacht based upon a proven Abeking & Rasmussen platform. „We knew that a SWATH would not set standards with regard to sleekness,“ explains Thomas Mühe, CEO at Focus Yacht Design; „but a SWATH can be a bold and masculine statement“. According to Thomas Mühe the natural environment of such a yacht is not a marina in St. Tropez or Marbella. It is rather at home offshore, at high seas on an expedition. „You wouldn‘t wear a ton of jewellery on a hiking trip“ as Mühe explains, „but your expedition outfit could still look good“. And the yacht looks impressive, indeed. A massive volume, dressed in a sharp and angular outfit, determined and aggressive, no pose, just purpose.
